We are pleased to announce we have strengthened our partnership with Japan’s SoftBank Corp. (SoftBank) through a new commercial agreement covering 4G and 5G network products and solutions. Ericsson has been selected as one of the radio equipment vendors to enhance SoftBank’s networks. Ericsson will enhance SoftBank’s networks in the Hokkaido, Tohoku, Kanto, Hokuriku and Tokai regions, and parts of the Kansai region. “SoftBank has been at the forefront of connectivity engagement through every generation of mobility. As digitalization ramps up, Ericsson will work closely with SoftBank in our strengthened partnership to help drive its digital leadership ambitions through improved end-user experiences, AI and automation. Ericsson has announced the completion of the equity investments by twelve global communication service providers #CSPs into its subsidiary Aduna Global formally establishing Aduna as a 50:50 joint venture.? ? “The closing of the transaction is another important step for Aduna. In just ten months we have built an impressive ecosystem comprising the biggest names in telecoms and the wider ICT industry. The closing provides renewed motivation for Aduna to accelerate the adoption of network APIs by developers on a global scale. This includes encouraging more telecom operators to join the new company, further driving the industry and developer experience.” says Anthony Bartolo?Aduna CEO. ? Aduna was created to combine and sell aggregated network Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) globally. It has been operational since the deal signed on 11 September 2024. ? Could this be the blueprint for future 5G standalone network launches? When BT Group launched 5G standalone, they formed a user experience-centric strategy to ensure their customers felt the difference. The result? Consumer and enterprise users were able to immediately perceive the true value of 5G. The article contains insights into BT Group’s deployment strategy and the specific steps they took to ensure 5G standalone success: ? A strict network coverage threshold of 95% was set in each location before announcing the launch, linked with carrier aggregation across the mid- and low-bands. This ensured availability, and therefore a meaningful experience for new standalone customers. ?? Building a converged cloud core to enable flexibility and scalability, and to serve as the foundation for 5G standalone use cases. ? The launch was carefully timed to coincide with increased availability of standalone-enabled devices, again ensuring that customers could access the new network capabilities and perceive the change. ?? BT Group formed partnerships with major players in the device and application fields to ensure the best network experiences for their customers. ?? After the first phase of the launch, a “clustering strategy” was used to build-out coverage from the initial sites during phases two and three.
